In the summer of 2007 it became clear to us that the troops who so gallantly serve our nation and put their lives at risk for us each and every day were slowly but surely becoming yesterday’s news. They never were yesterday’s news to the families from whom they left, nor were they yesterday’s news for the many great organizations that support them no matter where they are. But the simple truth is the stories of our troops and their sacrifices for us did in fact make a steady decline in our collected consciousness. The last several years have been very tough on all of us. For the brave men and women who serve our nation to be on the front page of our newspapers or the lead story on our televisions is just unrealistic. But our support they clearly need and most certainly deserve and we all know they will not ever ask for it.
It is our opinion that everyone supports our troops in their own fashion. And we too have felt compelled to do what we could as a company to support our troops. So this is how we decided to show our appreciation and support. We did our first annual Military Appreciation Week from February 25, 2008 through February 29, 2008. During that week we prepared income taxes for any Active Troop, Reservist or National Guard member or their spouses if they were deployed overseas at no cost to them (Free). Our commitment did not end there, we also did donate $10 from every paid return to two local military outreach organizations, Heroes In Action located in Toledo, Ohio and The Southeastern Michigan Veterans Center located in Monroe, Michigan.
Our commitment to those who wear our uniform so proudly will be once again become our focus this upcoming tax season. Our second annual Military Appreciation Drive will take place from January 15, 2009 through April 15, 2009. We will once again donate $10 from each paid return to those same organizations. We as a company feel that we have a voice and that using our voice in this manner will help in a small way for those who have and will do their part to ensure our safety and freedom.
